past perfect progressive - form

how you build the past perfect progressive:

positive and negative statements:

had + past perfect form of “be” + present participle

–>                had + been + infinitve + -ing

      e.g. I had been working.

             He had been working.

             You hadn’t been swimming.

           They hadn’t been swimming.

questions:

The auxiliary verb “had” is swapped by the subject and is put at the beginning of the question.

       e.g. Had I been working?

              Had you been working?

             Hadn’t he been swimming?

             Hadn’t we been swimming?
